Deserves 4.5 stars, or even more. It isn't perfect, but for what it costs, it is absolutely great at what it does. Wish I knew about this years ago. I'm trying to learn different sections/instruments of my favorite songs, but usually lack sheet music, have to find "how to play" YouTube videos, or use ear & trial by error. RipX DeepRemix breaks music into its' constituent instruments (or does its' best trying), which then can be saved as audio files like .wav, or converted to MIDI files. This will make transcribing songs a breeze compared to how I was doing it! I threw a semi-random song off a CD I had close by at RipX Deep Remix, and within 6 minutes I had the song separated into multiple stems such as vocals, bass, drums, guitar, piano, and other. In this case, Deep Remix did a fantastic job with the vocals and acoustic guitar, a very good job with the bass and drums. Piano just seemed like it had some random noise on it (there wasn't a piano on the song AFAIK); other appeared to have some notes from a Hammond organ, but that stem was quite muddy and indistinct. I haven't tried to convert that stem to MIDI yet; if it does a good job converting that I can overlook the poor sound quality on that stem. That's really the beauty of this plugin...take music you want to play/rearrange, break it into parts and turn them into MIDI (or use the separated audio track as is). It does what it does well, at a cheap price. It will save me untold HOURS of time.
