Usually, all real-time software synthesizers use a lot of approximations (tables, interpolations). Their digitally implemented bandlimited algorithms can produce only a limited number of certain sounds only. And in the end, it all affects the resulting sound quality.
This application can generate sounds with the highest possible precision and quality but with compromises to performance (it is not real-time). It offers the closest possible quality to analog sound (thanks to oversampling) and flexibility which is limited only by your knowledge of math and imagination.
SoundModeler is the freeware/donationware sound modeling application for Windows using text math syntax with expressions. You can easily convert your text formulas to audio to analyze it and save as .wav file.
The features are:
So could i use this to create more experimental sounds?
Definitely, that is what it made for !).
You just have to learn a bit of syntaxis from the library of the formulas included. I plan to finalize the documentation in a month or so. But the basics are obvious you write in the text editor: sin(X) or saw(X) then you add them or multiply as you wish. then press->Build and Play.
I also plan to upload a video soon to demonstrate how to create your own sounds, FXs or Halion multi-samples with the use of SoundModeler.
If you have any questions - please let me know.
