the interface on this beauty imho is one of the best I have seen, it has a stealthy black finish but at the same time very easy to read, and it doesn't take to long to realise where everything is on it either.

here it is folks the sound reveiw. well this thing is a trance machine (if thats your thing) it has alot of detune to make those nice cutting leads and pads. the synth has a bunch of wavforms to use and mix with all the oscillators as well as adding frequenct modulation circa the fm slider. this synth is equally good at basses creating nice warped german offbeat basshits are snappy uk style dance hits, it also has a nice cutoff and a slide to make those crazy breakbeat/techno basslines. with the included lfo's and fx you can make all sorts of weird fx sounds from winds and rain to classic atari sounds beep and bleeps and laser hits. this is the ultimate freeware synth for its sound, big and clean.

Definitly not a one trick pony, this is a truly flexible va with many possibillities for sound creation and tweakability.

Documentation was tricky as there wasn't much but what was there was easy to understand.

The included Presets were good but the sounds were not easy to find with the names of the presets, but that didn't bother me as I ended up building a bunch of my own saved sounds.

I never needed support but from what I have seen on this forum he was quick to reply to others questions and quick with bugfixes on all his work.

great value for the money...nothing, now go get your self some lolapalooza

this thing has survived everyrun without a problem on my machine and thats a miricle.

all in all this has become a nice peice of kit in my virtual arsenal

great work Buzzroom you Rock!!

USER INTERFACE - What is it about people that need flashy bells and whistles and a colorful veiw to make a vsti useable...who cares about how it sounds if it has a crap interface its nothing ****insert eyerolling here****. well Maybe this synth has a bland look but thats not what matters.

SOUND - this synth is a percussion maker and what it does it does good, but judging by an earlier reveiw the guy must have had no idea what he was doing, the synth gives you a variety of wavforms from tri to noise. use the noise wavforms for hats and electronic percussion sounds. the square and saw can even make some nice bass sounds. I have heard people say the bassdrum has no character but I don't think they have tried the clip slider, bring it down and the bd will really punch...in fact bring clip down alot and you have instant hardcore or if your like me and liking the hardstyle bass sounds, attack out the thump of the drum and leave the tail and you have a hardstyle bass which is able to follow your melody which is an advantage to just using a hardcore bassdrum sample stuck on one note.

FEATURES - multiple wavforms for making many sounds, a very good filter with high resonance capabilities and has high and bandpass besides the standard lowpass. it has a very useful adsr that has a very snappy decay for percussion sounds, the clip slider is my secret weapon, and many options in the oscillator section to change the sounds espeically fm.

DOCUMENTATION - well this was tricky as its in japanese, but I translated it with altavista (do the same) but the synth is pretty self explanitory.

PRESETS - the developer included a nice little bank to build upon but it doesn't show the big possibilities of this synth imo, though the slash preset was very usable on this end.

CUSTOMER SUPPORT - this is a hard one seeing as i have never needed support so....

VALUE FOR MONEY - Its free and its good go get it (if your a person who cares only about a gui...well don't get it)

STABILITY - No crashes ever and my system begs for it so big thumbs up for that.

all in all its proved worthy for new percussion sounds.

I picked up VMX about 6 months ago and find myself using this now for everthing, Leads, powerchords, The greatest basses, the coolest bell and percussion sounds.A fantastic synth in all aspects but very daunting to the beginner in Fm synths (I scratched my head when I first saw it :P)

The Interface is a head scratcher at first but once you get used to switching between the pages to use the oscillators, envelopes, and modulation options it starts to get easier.

The Sound is what you make it, since its fm it can sound absolutly horrible but when you get to know what your doing this thing can make alot of different sounds, I have made trance leads, 303 leads, bells, huge harddance basses, rock style basses, snares/hats/etc, and plain ol crazy fx sounds. and also has a quality option to save cpu I am guessing though i never see a difference but on low quality it can sound like an old atari.

The features.....too many to mention but you can read above you know ;)...whats missing and I wish was there would be a built in arp...an arp with this would make wicked idm.

since theres no more development of these synths :( what you see is what you get documentation and manual wise but its not to hard to learn and believ me in this case practice pays off its a great sound maker.

Presets are good, could be better, but I am not complaining, the power chord preset hooked me in the first place. 32 presets from pads to bells and standard stuff aswell it will show you what can be done though alot more is possible imo.

well customer support in non existent so not much more to say... if you have a problem ask the forums I guess

this free synth was worth the download on this end, as you probably have guessed by now I love it I won't part with it until it no longer functions even then I'll buy an old pc just to keep running this synth and the others that are not developed anymore. I have a crappy computer a terrible OS (WME) and outdated hardware and this is super stable no crashes since ....ever.

Its a sad fact to know this beauty and its sister synths vivaldi original and ganymed will never me updated again, but it happens.

try it its a great sound maker

This synth has a unique sound all its own, I downloaded thinking I would get another run of the mill bass synth, but indeed I was wrong.

The synth has wonderfull oscillators, 3 to be exact each with saw and pulse wavforms, and pwm for all three, the sound is analog but also has a digital sound coming through as well which may sound bad but its what makes the synth unique imo.

the filter on this baby is fantastic, the resonance can go very high without distortion for those 303 style basslines, and at certain settings sounds like a dr who theme synth sound.

the typical adsr is replaced by the signiture odo boom settings, they are very good for that old analog bass synth style but attack is not present on this thing so rising pads are hard to do but this synth was made for bass and screaming acid lines....

....which brings me to the highlite of this synth the fantastic built in distortion...most synths (espeically se synths) have soft distortions that don't do much in terms of raw sound mangling, but this distortion cranks out the style to change a simple basssound into a screaming lead line.

the lfo section is fantastic as well somehow always syned with my music, the slide is fantastic and very 303 like.

all in all I call on this synth for high resonance sounds, distorted acid lines and stabs, a pretty cool trancy sound thats not your typical detuned saw, and subby to loud basshits.

Great Job Odo 2 thumbs up :)

I remember back more than a year ago I downloaded T1 and T2, and at the time I was still learning alot. After a few tweaks and so much a novice at synthesis could do with not much of second thought I kept Triangle 2 as it had the sound I wanted and triange 1 was deleted from my machine.

About 3 month ago I noticed people talking about the original and how it has a unique sound, I thought to myself was I misssing something it wasn't that incredible to me a year before...so I go and pick it up and start playing with it...after a few day of having it on my machine I have over 50 patches for the synth all incredibly usefull and 95% are various basses.

Ok The synth can be confusing for newbies trying synthesis and programming (as you read above I can vouch for that) but this thing is a very fast synth that will get the sound you will want to keep in a short time. The filter on this baby can scream at higher resonance (though tb303 is possible with this synth the filter does distort at high frequencies so the squelch is not there but for 303 stabs it rocks)but when having certain sounds at a low frequency, clicks appear that will not go away with any adsr work but raising the cutoff will rid the clicks but the sound is no longer what you need (IE Bass)but most of the time will be hidden by the percussion in your music anyway so its not the biggest deal.

the Oscillators still confuse me as it doesn't say what wavform your using but its not a problem if you use your ear. the sound is phatt and raw but can get digital sounding easily...many sounds can be made from this synth from 303's to evolving pads, to screaming leads and a whole lot more even nice organ sounds and various percussion.

the lfo's and eternal fx are very usefull espeically for pads and strings, the delay is a nice touch for adding a delay without to much cpu being drained. The synth even has a noise generator for addding dirt to your basses or to make percussion and wind noises.

This synth is perfect for low subby basses, housy basses, and For dirty german hardhouse basslines that we all love :)This is not a one trick pony as I have heard people say,its a power synth in my arsenal going head to head with T2 and iblit as my favorite free analog style softsynths, 2 thumbs up to Rene for creating this weapon.

i picked this up a while back and it amazed me for such a small vsti, it produces really snappy offbeat basslines and can get the woah sounding bass commonlly heard by the warp brothers, maybe a one trick pony (BASS!!) but it is excellent at what it does in my opinion...plus its free

it also can do some pretty cool percussion sounds with the snappy decay and release

Triangle ll has been a main instrument in my arsenal since its first release.

The first time I used it I was going through the presets and lets just say the presets don't do it justice, out of all the presets 4-5 of them show the power of Trinagle ll, trying the synth again one day while bored I started from scratch to make sounds and the sounds I got out of this baby were so phatt its to be one of the best softsynths out there and the fact that its free to me is unbelievable.

The only thing that i found wrong was the lack of squeeky renosance while bringing up the filter cutoff, it has alot more that its older brother but its still a shame.. with a squeekier filter and some better presets it would be alot better, but regardless of that this instrument is a godsend.

Triangle 2 has drive not heard in other softsynth, check it out now or your missing out
