Its free, its easy and it works, what more do you want? I'm a plugin developer and this is my go to oscilloscope for checking the output of my synth oscillators. I use it constantly for plugin development. Recently I tried downloading another software oscilloscope which looked fancy but after I downloaded it the installer started trying to update it's own Windows Visual Studio SDK on top of my development system, fortunately I stopped it in time before any damage was done. I'm going back to s(M)exoscope since I can depend on it.

Very rich and ethereal with an incredible attention to detail, these presets are great for any ambient work. This is not some hobby bank, it was originally contracted professionally for the Fathom sound bank store and we liked it so much we made it part of our film score bundle. The KVR release is the latest version direct from the sound designer and probably the best transcription of this now famous preset bank. If any of the patches sound familiar it is probably because you heard them in a movie or television score. Highly recommended.

If your mix is going nowhere, try dropping in one of these presets. Trust me, it will open up new avenues for you. I've been using these presets myself now for months and they are perfect for epic EDM themes where a catchy lead needs a memorable patch.

I guess you know a plugin is great when a competing synth developer can give it a perfect review. I've been wanting to download Dune 3 for over a year now to see if all the hype is true.

Well, it is.

Whenever I approach a new synth I start by initialized a patch and stripping it down to a single sawtooth with no filters or effects to reveal the basic quality of the oscillators. Dune 3 surprised me here.

Its oscillators are incredibly clean with a good analog thickness to them. I found them to be very well balanced overall in the frequency domain and pleasingly bright in the high end but with zero aliasing. The brightness is easily controlled by selecting one of a staggering array of low pass filters.

Additionally I found it very unique that Dune offers several detune algorithms which are some of the best I've heard to date in a synth.

I've had experiences before with synths that start with great oscillators but fall flat when you turn up the detune because of cancellation problems, and this is definitely not the case with Dune. Also worth noting is that Dune's CPU efficiency seems to allow a significantly higher number of voices per oscillator than I'm used to, which might explain its capacity for orchestral thickness even before any effects are employed.

If that big EDM sound has eluded you definitely check out Dune 3.
