Iconic Instruments has announced the release of Iconic V, a faithful software homage to "the most iconic drum synthesizer of the 1980s". The software is available for Kontakt and the free Kontakt Player.
This milestone unit defined pop music of the era and was used extensively by New Wave, New Romantics and Synth Pop artists like Duran Duran, Howard Jones, Naked Eyes, Talk Talk and Kajagoogoo. It also formed the cornerstone of the Italo Disco genre and was used on many rock recordings, most notably by Alex Van Halen on the 1984 and 5150 albums.
Iconic Instruments have brought this venerable classic back to life, faithfully modelling eight synthesis channels, including the rare hi-hat and cymbal modules. Going further, they've added expanded functionality and full mixing environment features.
Features:
-
Eight original drum units painstakingly recreated: Bass, Snare, Tom 1, Tom 2, Tom 3 and the ultra rare Hi Hat, Cymbal 1 and Cymbal 2 units.
-
Comprehensive synthesis controls for a broad range of classic beats.
-
Additional circuit-bent controls that go beyond the original unit – introduce FM to the snare, tune Filter Resonance, reduce initial clicks with Click Defeat.
-
Mix each element with console controls, Drive, Transient Shaper, HP and LP filters, a four-band British-style EQ, Tape Saturation, plus Reverb and Delay sends.
-
Fully featured delay and convolution reverb with authentic, 80s-era impulse responses including gated reverb, custom-made by Numerical Sound.
-
Ten preset kits for instant 80s gratification.
-
Tune drums to keyboard notes, or play a single drum across your keyboard with Target mode.
-
64 output buses to route each element to its own channel in your DAW.
-
NKS-compatible for easy integration with Native Instruments Maschine and Komplete Kontrol.
-
Runs in Kontakt or the free Kontakt Player.
