Dell has announced it is teaming up with music software provider Open Labs and rock band Linkin Park to offer Open Labs Music OS software for download on dell.com and on select Dell products, including a limited availability music solution called the Linkin Park Edition.

Open Labs Music OS is a software application designed to meet the needs of music creators and performers producing on personal computers. It offers a fully functional yet simplified hands-on approach to music creation. It allows users to design sounds, produce songs, share them on the Web as well as perform them live on stage. Dell now offers an Open Labs Music OS software bundle on Dell.com combined with a variety of Dell laptops and All in One devices. The Music OS software may also be downloaded directly from Dell.com for $299.00.

Dell says "Major forces in the music industry like rock band Linkin Park and artist and producer Timbaland are just two examples of artists that create and perform their music using Music OS on Dell personal computers. Linkin Park and Timbaland are known for different types of musical styles, yet have used Open Labs technology for more than four years to propel their success. The results show with Linkin Park's current hit song "Burn It Down" which is currently #1 on the Billboard Rock Charts, and continues through Timbaland's collaborations with a wide variety of leading recording artists around the world."

To celebrate the upcoming release of Linkin Park's new album Living Things, Dell is offering a special limited time music solution called the Linkin Park Edition available immediately. It features exclusive, custom-made Linkin Park Sounds, Open Labs Music OS software, and high performance Dell laptops and All in One devices. Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park said, "Technology is at the core of our music creation process. As technology expands, so do the possibilities for creativity. We are excited to partner with Dell to issue an exclusive Linkin Park Edition Music OS package that blends Dell technology and Open Labs music creation software. The combination of Dell's powerful computing, along with Music OS's seamless software will be an invaluable tool on our upcoming world tour, as we gear up to release our new album, Living Things, on June 26."

Music OS provides its customers with unlimited audio and MIDI capabilities when recording and performing live. With thousands of loops, presets, samples and sounds, this software transforms any personal computer into an all-in-one music creation and live performance instrument. Also, Music OS makes it possible for musicians to create naturally with their hands as opposed to using a mouse. Producers can choose from classic keyboard sounds, synths, basses, drum loops, and other orchestral instruments. While developed and optimized for touch screen use, a touch screen device is not required to create with Music OS. Enthusiasts and professionals no longer need to learn multiple software programs and hardware devices, and songs can be shared or exported to 3rd party music applications.
