The Soundiron Drum Corps is a unique library focused on capturing the powerful, tight sound of high school marching drum corps. There are both indoor and outdoor versions of the drum line to provide the user with a little more freedom. The goal was not to simply capture the sound of watching a drum corps, but to create the feeling of actually being in the drumline yourself, all the way from rehearsal to the big game. The indoor version was recorded in a wood, tile and fabric surfaced rehearsal hall. The outdoor recordings were done on the football field, so there are occasional stray elements buried in the sound from passing pedestrians and onlookers. That's what you get for recording in the real world. We weren't able to get the marching bass drums in the hall, so we opted for the old 48" concert bass that's been in use there since the 70s. There also a collection of live marching band and parade field recordings to really put you into the action. This library has all of the flavor and verve of a classic high school marching drum line, with plenty of pop, crack, whump and boom to bring a little more life into your percussion lines.
There are 2 Marching snares, 2 sets of Quads and 5 tuned marching bass drums (20" – 36") for the field recordings. The indoor recordings feature a 48" concert bass drum in place of the tuned marching bass drums. The head of the concert bass drum is made of cow hide and it's played with a large, soft cloth and felt mallet. For the full drum line there are flam and rim strike articulations with all instruments playing in unison.
Included are a complete set of indoor (band room) and outdoor (field) patches. Both indoor and outdoor sets contain a master "all" patch, a bass only patch and a snare only patch. There are singles, flams, rim clicks, rim shots, crescendos and sustained rolls, both with release samples for the snare articulations.
Native Instruments Kontakt version 3.5 or 4 full retail version of Kontakt required to use all .nki instrument program presets included in this library. The free Kontakt "Player" does not support this library.
