LOLCOMP

This plugin is awesome. It is super fun to use. More importantly, it sounds great. I like that I can audition 5 different compression chains very easily. I also like the added flexibility of the added controls - the filters, and tone shaping section that opens up at the bottom. This thing is super easy to use, and forces me to use my ears. I am thoroughly enjoying using this plugin, and already it is something I find myself using more and more. I think that every chain is useful, but I really like thr peacock for a natural sounding subtle compression. I hd a chance to BETA test this plugin for 60 days before it was just released, so I have had some time to put it through it's paces.

Mixing Night Audio did it..AGAIN! 1st with GreenHAAS and now with their latest innovation, LOLCOMP. To put it simply, LOLCOMP feels like cheating in the best way possible. So much more than a compressor plugin, LOLCOMP is a rather robust plugin with several of Ken Lewis' tried and true signature chains built right under the hood. All you have to do is turn the main center knob and LOLCOMP essentially does the rest. This plugin is the instant "sound goodizer" and vibe box. Of course, it doesn't stop there. In addition to the main dial, there are 5 modes (or chains) to work in that are geared towards different uses (but experiment freely!). For example, use the LOL (smiley face) chain for vocals, the Kangaroo chain (boxing glove) for punchier sounding drums or the Dragon chain (fire) for some serious saturation or distortion processing. The design concept and layout also allows you to quickly toggle between the different modes/chains with ease while encouraging you to stay in a creative workflow. While you're at it, you can also scroll through tons of presets and you're sure to land on something that takes your record to the next level. Clicking on the PARALOL button opens additional parameters you can tweak to your desire. Experiment in sculpting your sound with the Levitate, Mash, Awaken and Oxidate knobs to add extra vibe. As a producer who also mixes, I'm always looking for better tools and more efficient ways of working. I say this with all honesty...this plugin has very quickly become a MUST HAVE tool in my work flow and for this reason I give LOLCOMP a 5-star rating. Do yourself a huuuuge favor and grab yourself a copy of LOLCOMP and you won't be sorry.

Another fantastic release - this time, it's a compressor, although you won't be finding your normal threshold, ratio, attack/release knobs and sliders. In fact, much like its predecessor, the essence of LOLCOMP is to get you to forget about the numbers and focus on vibe. So close your eyes and twist a few knobs, and let LOLCOMP inject its musicality into your track.

Massive kudos to the Mixing Night Audio team once again, for pushing the boundaries of what plugins should be and how we can use them.

LOLCOMP is Amazing and very versatile. Don't let the interface fool you into thinking this is a toy. It has become my go-to instead of reaching for my usual EQ, saturator, distortion, reverb, or compressor plugin. Just a quick dial or tweaking here and there to get the sound I want right away. Highly Recommended! -- Jrel Music Studio.

Hey Jrel! It's awesome to hear that you're reaching for LOLCOMP in all these different situations! Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

The plugin is very intuitive so it is very easy to use, the audio quality delivered by this processor is incredible, you get a very good sound in a matter of seconds, I love Lol Comp for the vocals.

Response from mixingnightaudio from Mixing Night Audio on August 15th, 2023

Thank you, Fabian! That's great to hear! And it's true, it is very powerful on vocals. Especially the Smiley Chain was created with the vision to design a must-have vocal compressor. It's great to hear we seem to have achieved this goal.

GreenHAAS

GreenHAAS is one of those rare plugins that is so simple and intuitive to use, but is so musical and accomplishes so many things at once that it feels like cheating! The saturation section of GreenHAAS is the first thing that struck me. There are many many saturation plugins that either model analog gear or try to add tonal character, but they often sound hard edged and harsh or just fuzzy. Somehow the harmonics of the saturation in GreenHAAS never sound harsh and can be applied to nuanced and bright sources with great results. From vocals to hi hats to acoustic guitars, the saturation is always musical and adds tons of vibe and presence. The HAAS delay section is a fantastic tool for widening a source and moving it out of the center to make room for other instruments in a mix, and it can add that magic width to vocals and harmonies in no time. When used in conjunction with the modulation section I've gotten results in minutes that would otherwise mean spending lots of time rigging up auxes with choruses, flangers, and delays. Being able to automate all those effects from one plugin is a huge time saver too! I love that there are no numbers in the fun botanical themed GUI, it invites you to dive in and play without listening with your eyes and wondering if something is "too much" before you hear it. This plugin is so easy to use that it has led me to try things I've never tried before, HAAS delay and chorus on hi hats? Modulation on bass? Flanging on percussion? GreenHAAS makes it so quick to try things that it has become a powerful new creative tool for me. Just like a great instrument rigged up by a pro and ready to play in the studio, this plugin invites you to play and experiment without fighting the technical side. It gives you big sounds that inspire new creative techniques and approaches. You can't do much better than that.

Hello GNWMixing! Wow, your feedback sounds great!! We're excited to hear the different ways GreenHAAS inspires you to try new creative ways! That's exactly what one of the big visions for this plugin is - removing the technical hassle and help people try and find things they just wouldn't find otherwise! Thank you for using GreenHAAS :).

Being a lucky beta tester, I've had the opportunity to work with GreenHAAS for around two weeks now.

It's one of those plugins you can throw on your insert tracks to give them a special seasoning.

You got a cool melody but its lacking that kind of magic and won't sit in the mix?

Give GreenHAAS a try and you'll get some crazy good results by just using the presets.

It breathes life into basic sounds and it also helps your mixes considering depth and width.

You can also create total madness if you decide to dive in deeper with the saturation/distortion.

And for that price its a no brainer.

Great Job Mixing Night Audio.

Response from mixingnightaudio from Mixing Night Audio on October 2nd, 2021

Thanks so much, Sebastian!! We think there's nothing to add to that :).
