Music Hackspace has teamed up with Arturia, Cycling' 74 and Derivative to deliver free workshop series in September, 2021.

Having already run 9 months of free workshops with Cycling' 74 since January 2021, Music Hackspace adds two more partners this Fall: Arturia (sound design with Pigments 3) and Derivative (TouchDesigner).

JB Thiebaut, CEO of Music Hackspace, says:

Our mission is to help everyone stay creative. We work with some of the leading companies to offer free opportunities for artists to develop their skills.

These new workshops are free for all, and taught online by live teachers based in Berlin, New York, Toronto or London. These workshops are an opportunity for participants to learn the fundamentals of sound design, music programming, interactive media and much more. They offer curious artists a way to try a software before they buy, and learn life long skills in the process.

Music Hackspace also proposes workshops on a growing number of topics, ranging from vocal production to DIY synthesizers building, or Ableton Live API. All workshops are recorded and made available to watch on-demand.

Arturia offers a free trial of the software (download here), making this accessible to anyone who is curious about sound design. There is no obligation to buy the software to participate in the workshop. The first workshop will be led by sound designer Chloe Alexandra Thompson, who has years of experience teaching music technologies. Find out more here.

Getting started With Max, a series of 4 free workshops will commence on Wednesday 15th September. Extensions of the trial period are made available for participants. Music Hackspace also runs monthly meetups with live presentations from Max experts. The series are taught by Max certified trainers Phelan Kane or Melody Loveless. Find out more here.

Getting started with TouchDesigner is a series of 4 free workshops taught by Berlin-based Bileam Tschepe, who also hosts monthly meetups featuring the work of interactive media artists. TouchDesigner is gaining prominence in the music community for its capabilities to create audio reactive visuals in real-time, and is widely used in live concerts all over the world.
