Propellerhead updates Reason to v10.1 - Player Rack Extensions - Drum Sequencer free for May

Propellerhead Software has announced that Reason 10.1 is now available. This free update is for Reason 10, Reason 10 Intro and Reason 10 Lite.

They also stated "...we have decided there will not be any paid upgrades to Reason this year. So there's absolutely no need to worry about missing out on new features later this year if you're thinking about upgrading to Reason 10 now."

The 10.1 update features a new version of the Rack Extension SDK, featuring Player devices, improved sample loading with sample zones and pattern automation support. A selection of new Rack Extension Players are now available in the shop—including Propellerhead's own Drum Sequencer. The Drum Sequencer is freely available to all Reason 10 users for the month of May so don't forget to download it.

Reason's flagship synth Europa has been updated. You can now load your own samples and wavetables and use them as oscillators in the engine. Not only that, you can also use the sample in the Spectral Filter which will then act as the spectral multiplier—a fancy way of saying it creates filter curves based on your sample.

Changes in Reason 10.1:

• Added support for Rack Extension SDK3, including support for Player Rack Extensions, pattern tracks and sample zones.
• Europa has been updated. You can now load a sample or custom wavetable into the Wave and Spectral Filter sections of the Engine.
• Improvements to Player timing and Send to Track.
• Hyper Threading is no longer the default setting on macOS and will be turned off at first launch of Reason 10.1. To turn it on again, just do so in the Preferences - the General tab. This is an intermediate fix for an issue we're experiencing and working on fixing with Reason on macOS 10.13.4.
• Fixed a bug where undoing after opening a VST window could cause a crash.
• Fixed a bug where the full version of Reason could not open certain Reason Essentials documents.
• Fixed a bug in Europa and Grain where velocity did not affect the amp properly in mono legato mode.
• Updated the Reason Factory Soundbank with new samples for Europa.
• The first time you launch Reason/Reason Intro/Reason Lite 10.1 you will be prompted to download the updated sound banks.
