KeyToSound (Koblo)

KeyToSound has announced the Production Pack, a collection of four new signal processor plug-ins - Dynamic EQ, Essential Compressor, Precision EQ and Vintage EQ. The Production Pack will be available for Windows and Mac OS X Universal Binary in VST, AU and RTAS formats in stores worldwide with the retail price yet to be announced. Individual downloads will also be available in the KeyToSound web shop.

Beta demo versions of the Dynamic EQ and Essential Compressor are available now.

Dynamic EQThe Dynamic EQ is a 64 bit, zero latency signal processor that combines the functions of a compressor with the results of an equalizer. The combination of these features gives the Dynamic EQ an advantage over "static" equalizers in that it can respond in real time to signal input, applying equalization when it is needed, rather than all the time.

Features:

  • 4 bands with solo feature and individual metering.
  • Threshold, ratio, attack, and release settings per band.
  • Frequency, bandwidth, and gain settings per band.
  • Global metering- +12 dB gain output.
  • A/B setting switching.
  • MIDI CC learn.

Essential CompressorThe Essential Compressor is a versatile and transparent compressor, designed for the discerning engineer who does not want any coloration or character added to the signal. The Essential Compressor lends itself perfectly for instruments ranging from classical instruments to rock bass and drums.

Features:

  • 64 bit.
  • Responsive VU level indicator for input and output signal.
  • A/B preset switching capable of automated setting changes.
  • MIDI CC learn.
  • +/- 24 dB headroom.

Precision EQThe Precision EQ offers precise equalization. Featuring an FFT representation of either the input or output signal, you can see your equalization results, even if your ears deceive you.

Features:

  • 64 bit precision.
  • 7 bands with Gain, Frequency, and "Q" settings.
  • 7 different filter types per band.
  • Graphical drag and drop curve setting.
  • Global output metering.

Vintage EQThe Vintage EQ gets its name from the warmth and character you hear when passing a signal through this EQ. Any mastering or recording engineer worth his weight in salt will know that when using a "standard" digital EQ, the frequency response approaches 0dB and the signal frequency approaches the Nyquist frequency.

This is not the way analogue equalizers behave and the Vintage EQ solves this problem by using an advanced filter algorithm that produces a curve that is not 100% symmetrical, producing a desired "vintage" sound. Another very important element to this EQ is that unlike its competitors, the Vintage EQ does not use oversampling, since that would require down-sampling and pre-filtering (to avoid aliasing) which in turn would ruin the sound.

Features:

  • FFT display of incoming and outgoing signal.
  • 64 bit precision.
  • 7 bands with Gain, Frequency, and "Q" settings.
  • 7 different filter types per band.
  • Graphical drag and drop curve setting.
  • Global output metering.
