Soundbytes updates Sympathizer to v1.0 RC3

-
Soundbytes

Soundbytes has released Release Candidate 3 of Sympathizer v1.0. This version contains numerous improvements and bug fixes over the previous preview version. The feature set is now finalized and will not be changed in the coming v1.0 release.

New Features:

  • The effect now uses four resonator banks instead of the previous three.
  • The material parameter has been thoroughly reworked to allow for more damp and realistic sounding string materials.
  • A new routing section shows the signal flow. Click on the bank symbols in the routing area to change the wiring.
  • Banks can now be chained in pairs (1->2 and 3->4). Chained banks create a more distant sound and a slower attack of the reverb tail. Their sound is a bit reminiscent of a bowed string ensemble.
  • The output of bank 1 and 3 can be inverted. Mix the output of a resonator bank with the signal from an inverted bank to achieve interesting cancellation effects. These can be utilized to completely remove the attack phase from he output signal or to create a highpass filtered effect.
  • Damper and volume can now be controlled through MIDI and alternatively through VST host automation.
  • The damper and volume control status are now displayed by LEDs. These LEDs react on incoming control data which makes it much easier to find appropriate settings for the slope and threshold parameters.
  • Power saving: The effect switches itself off at the end of the reverb tail when no input signal is present. (to save CPU resources).

Sympathizer is still available for a reduced pre-release price of €22. This offer ends on February 15th 2007.
